Katy B returns in a car filled video

One of the sexiest gingers in the world, Katy B, is preparing her second studio album, and today we got the video for the first single from that album. What Love is Made Of is a solid dance track, and while it is good, in my opinion it's not as good as some of the material from her previous album. Katy On a Mission, Lights On and Witches Brew were all amazing singles, and this one is just good. Of course I am happy as long it's not a bad single, but knowing Katy's potential, I expected more. When it comes to the video, Katy looks sexy as always and the whole video revolves around cars, and street car races. So I'm not sure what's the point of the video, but just seeing Katy is good enough. Now we are left waiting for the rest of the album, hoping it will be as good as her debut album.

Kylie Minogue is still here (and thank God for it)

One of pop's biggest names definitely has to be Kylie Minogue. She has been in the business for more than 25 years and she still manages to make great and popular music. I love her songs and I think Kylie is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Her new single is titled Skirt and sees Kylie exploring dubstep a bit. It's a mid-tempo dance song with spicy lyrics and since it's Kylie I am sure expecting some sexy video to go along with this song. It is still not confirmed if this is a promo single or a real single, but either way it's good to hear something new from Kylie. I just hope this means we can also expect a new album soon.

Kelly Clarkson shines in new video

The girl with one of the most amazing voices ever, Kelly Clarkson, has a new video out. People Like Us video shows Kelly looking more gorgeous than ever. The video is set in a black and white world where scientists study a girl who is in color.  One of the scientists is of course Kelly. After the girl is put through x-ray, Kelly reveals herself to the girl as also being in color (or different). Together, the two escape the facility where the girl was kept and after some car chasing they end up in the world that is completely in color. The concept of the video is cool and I once again have to say Kelly looks so good, even better than good. Another thing I have to state is that the song is also very good and meaningful. I don't know why I avoided hearing it for so long. I expected the song to be boring, and it's anything but. Now I can't stop watching the video and listening to the song.

Playmen release a video for their latest banger

Greek DJ duo Playmen have been blowing me away with their amazing singles for almost two years now. Their songs have that something that makes them stand out in my eyes. If you've never heard of them, I recommend listening to Fallin' and Out Of My Head before continuing to read this post. Now, when it comes to news about these guys, they have released the video for their newest single Breakin' Me Up. The song is very good and the video is equally interesting. The song's dance break and lyrics are amazing as always and the black and white video shows the singer with a couple of background dancers busting a move on a pool. The best part is when the girls jump in the pool and start doing some crazy spins and what-not all while wearing heels. Respect. Also the video has Coca Cola light as product placement, but that is something we're already used to. Enjoy the cool video below.

Jessie J's shaves her head and goes Wild

The judge from UK's version of The Voice, Jessie J, has released her latest single. Wild is the first single coming from the singer's second, yet-untitled album. The fast-paced pop song is done in collaboration with Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal. I expected the song to be good, especially because of the guys, but I didn't expect it to be this good. The thumping beat, Jessie's vocals and cool lyrics, and of course the amazing rapping make Wild a real treat. I have to emphasise that I think it's a really smart move to have both Sean and Dizzee in the song. Why? The US audience loves Sean, while people in the UK love Dizzee, so she has everything covered. The only thing left to be seen is the video that was leaked, but then quickly deleted today. Reportedly we can expect Jessie in a sexy outfit dancing and that's about it. With a good song like this it's more than enough for me.

Loreen's got the power

Exactly one year after her Eurovision triumph, the Swedish singer Loreen, has released her new single We Got The Power. This solid pop song was performed during this year's Eurovision final and while it's nothing like Euphoria, I do like the song. It's not dance, but pure pop, and it definitely shows music growth. Loreen's voice is as good as I remember it, and I think the whole concept of the song is good enough to make it a moderate hit. I definitely don't see this breaking any records and climbing numerous charts, but it will put Loreen back under the spotlight. And that is exactly where this girl belongs. You can see the accompanying video (that was directed by Loreen) below. Just like the song it's nothing spectacular, but good enough.

Cash Money Records sign Paris Hilton

You read it right. The girl best known for her scandals (and a mediocre music career) has been signed by Cash Money Records. Some of the artists that are under the same label are Jay Sean, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. So what does Paris have in common with them? According to Birdman, one of the founders of the label, Paris is "very talented, and a beautiful young woman". He added we can expect new music from Paris very soon. Her entire new album will be produced by the amazing Afrojack. I really don't think Miss Hilton should be in the music business, but if the album is produced by such a good DJ, it's gotta be worth something. Right?
*Just as a reminder find Paris' biggest hit so far below.

The Saturdays play dress up in new video

The highly-hyped video for Gentleman is here. After lots of sneak peaks and gifs, the video premiered last night. While I expected more of a story in the video, I have to say even without one it is pretty cool. The whole video reminds us of a Desperate Housewives promo video and while that's not a bad thing, I expected a bit more originality from the girls. The body doubles they hired after several auditions are not seen so clearly in the video, so I don't see why they went through so much trouble to find them. I thought the body doubles would play the girls throughout the entire video, and The Saturdays would be only the guys. Guess I was wrong. And while most are complaining the girls are trying too hard to win over the US market by rapping, reenacting desperate housewives and mentioning only US celebrities in the rap part (with the exception of Robert Pattinson), I really see no harm in that, and I fully enjoy this funky little number hoping it will be their next No1.

New Ciara and Nicki Minaj collab is fire

So, while we're waiting for July and Ciara's new album, we have been blessed to hear the Nicki Minaj collab earlier. I'm Out is the second time the two work together (first time being I'm Legit on Nicki's album) and once again the end result is amazing. The song's beat is sick, Nicki's rapping is top-notch and the song sounds fun and cool. It's a perfect song for a dance floor in the summer. I think this is definitely single material and it would blow people away with a sexy dance video. Ciara has had some incredible and underrated singles in the past, and I really hope that this one won't be that as well (if she decides to release this as a single). Either way, now I am even more interested to hear the entire album. You can hear the song here.

Beyonce owns The-Dream's new song

The-Dream is releasing his latest album IV Play in less than a week, so that means it's time to give the fans the taste of the album. All of the songs can be found on The-Dream's VEVO Youtube page. And while I still have to listen to all of the other songs, the Beyonce and 2 Chainz collaboration is something that caught my attention instantly. After listening to Turnt for a couple of times, I gotta admit it is amazing. The sexy beat, Beyonce's voice, the rapping, it all adds up to make a hot summer jam, something the girls will be bouncing their booty to. I can see the clubs spinning this song like crazy. And while it is The-Dream's song, I think the song will probably be popular mostly because of Beyonce, and I already see most people think it's a new Bey song. But that doesn't matter that much, what matters is the song will hopefully make people want to listen to, and buy the entire album.

Russian pop queens release new single

The girls who represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 have released a new single titled Malo Tebya (Mало Tебя). In the last year girls released their second album, had success in Italy, and this single is supposedly from their third album. Serebro have had a lot of success in Russia with their songs, but since they started focusing more on other markets, they lost the interest of Russian audience. Their last Mama Lover single, Gun, reached a disappointing 124. place on the chart. Now, with this single, it seems to me the girls are trying to get back to their recognizable sound that was good for them a couple of years ago. The song isn't too dance, the lyrics have some sort of meaning, and it doesn't sound slutty. As a long-time fan of Serebro, I love the song, but will the Russians and the rest of Europe/World?

Britney Spears' new song is smurftastic

So it's been more than a month since Britney Spears told the world she will contribute to The Smurfs 2 soundtrack. The song is titled Ooh La La, and it will be played probably during the end credits of the movie. Ooh La La is produced by Dr. Luke and Cirkut and was written by Bonnie McKee. The song (or the demo of the song) has leaked online a few days ago, and after listening to it a couple of times, I am ready to give my judgment. The song is a mid-tempo dance pop, and it definitely reminds me of old Britney. It's bubblegum pop at its best, and it is definitely a song I would expect to hear in an animated kids movie. The lyrics are nice, the song is catchy and the break is so cool. I can definitely see this become a summer jam. And a nice remix can conquer the clubs. All in all, an excellent song that will give Britney's fans something to listen to while she prepares her next album. Since YouTube has deleted most of the videos with the song, you can listen to it here.

P.S. A huge sorry to all my readers for the lack of posts, I was once again out of town for some time, But now I'm back, and you can expect that things will go back to normal :)

Lana Del Rey's Young and Beautiful video is out

Lana Del Rey's most successful single so far, Young And Beautiful, got the accompanying video . The beautiful ballad got a video that looks like it was shot some decades ago, and I think that it goes perfectly with the song. While Lana is singing with two diamond tears on her face, we see the full-string orchestra playing in the background. The video has no specific story, but it is definitely the perfect visualization for the song. Let's see if the video will make the song even more popular. Oh, and while Lana's single is doing good on charts, The Great Gatsby soundtrack album, on which you can find this song, is predicted to sell more then 100.000 copies in the first week of its release.

The Wanted's new song and video are interesting, but not interesting enough

First we had Moves Like Jagger, and now we have Walks Like Rihanna. The five-piece band from UK have just released the video for their latest single that also hit the web recently, and the end result isn't that great. First about the song. When I heard the title, I thought it was some kind of a joke. But it's not. Unfortunately. The guys sing about a girl who can't sing, can't dance, doesn't have anything specific that makes her stand out, but she walks like Rihanna, and that's what gets all the guys. I don't get it. Since when is Rihanna's walk so sexy? And since when is she known for her walk? She can't really dance, and yes, sometimes her vocals aren't top notch, so that part can be applied to her. Also, the rhythm of the song is up-beat, but still a bit boring. All in all, a very mediocre song. And then we come to the video which is a parody of some of the most famous videos made by boy bands in the past. They parody Backstreet Boys, and NSYNC among others. At the end of the video we even get a bit of PSY. OK, cool, but what does that have to do with Rihanna and that sexy walk? The director of all of these videos is a girl who they are singing about, and while she is supposed to be smokin' hot, she really isn't. I really like some of The Wanted's songs, but this one, I'll skip.

The Saturdays find it hard to meet a Gentleman

Move over Psy! The Saturdays have released their latest single Gentleman and it's tons better then the South-Korean's song with the same title. After finally getting their first ever UK No. 1 with What About Us, The Sats try something new with this single. When their fans got a taste of the new song, they were definitely surprised because this isn't the sound we were used to hear from them. The song is pretty funky, and I gotta admit it sounds like something Girls Aloud would have on their album Out Of Control. But I don't mind. I think the girls pulled it off, and I wouldn't be surprised if this became their next No. 1 single. And while the sound is amazing, the girls' voices are perfect, lyrically this might be one of their worst singles. I need to get a serious explanation of the lyrics, cause they don't make much sense. And the part where they just name famous guys who are supposed to be Gentlemen is absolutely horrendous. I am waiting to see the video, but by what I heard it will be cool, so I am really hoping to see the girls conquer the charts again.

Selena Gomez's new video is a visual treat

Selena Gomez's most successful single to date, Come And Get It, finally got the accompanying video. The video was directed by Anthony Mandler who has frequently worked with Rihanna. The video concept revolves around the four elements: earth, air, fire and water. Selena can be seen wearing different combinations throughout the video. She looks equally cute in all of them, so it is nice just to watch the video because of her. Also because of the four elements, she is swimming, dancing surrounded by fire and posing in a flower field. The song, which I didn't like that much before, now isn't so bad after this cool video is out. The beat is kinda different and it sticks in your mind. I see now why this song had chart success.

J.Lo's new song is a mess

After On The Floor and Dance Again, we have another J.Lo and Pitbull song that is produced by RedOne. Live It Up premiered with a lyric video on VEVO, just a couple of hours ago. With everybody hyping about the song and the hot video that will be released soon I really expected a lot from this song. And what did I get? The most predictable song ever. Boring lyrics, Pitbull's rapping that makes no sense again, and the whole song that sounds like something you already heard a million times. It's so generic and boring, I stopped the song somewhere around the middle. I don't know if Jenny knows this, but just because she struck gold once with Pitbull and RedOne when she released On The Floor, doesn't mean she can do it again and again. I mean, c'mon, change things up a bit.

Iggy Azalea's Bounce video is unexpectedly fun

After her single Work started climbing the UK charts, Iggy has started working hard on promoting the follow-up single Bounce. The fun dance number has been on my playlist ever since it came out. It is a pretty commercial song considering it's Iggy we are talking about, but I don't mind. And since it is such a fun and up-beat song I did expect the video to be interesting and crazy, but I didn't expect to get the video that just came out. The BRTHR directed video sees Iggy in a Bollywood-themed video, riding elephants, dancing with Indian dancers and being covered in gold from hear to toe. Gotta say I don't see how could they have come up with an idea like this, but I am glad they did. It somehow goes perfectly with the song and Iggy looks stunning in the video. With over a quarter of a million views so far, I think this could turn out to be a huge hit for Iggy.

Mariah Carey releases Beautiful

Mariah Carey hasn't had a decent hit since 2009's Obsessed or even 2008's Touch My Body. She tried to get back in the spotlight last year with Triumphant, but that song turned out to be a flop. Now she joined forces with Miguel and released Beautiful. The song is a solid RnB jam with nice beats and meaningful lyrics. It's again nice to hear Mariah's powerful voice on such a good track. I am still not a complete fan of the song, but after the first few spins, it sound like a good summer song. Make a nice and visually good video, and I bet this could get Mimi back on the charts. And now is the perfect time since American Idol (on which Mariah is still a judge) is almost over.

Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and others join Rich Gang on Tapout

Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and the rest of the crew that joined Rich Gang have released a star-filled video for the single Tapout. The song isn't that bad. It has a cool beat, the rapping is good as you would expect, but I don't think I ever heard this much usage of the word pu**y in a song, EVER. Even Rammstein's song that titled Pu**y didn't have it that much. OK, now onto the video. While Lil Wayne and others pose in a luxurious mansion, Paris Hilton and Christina Milian are the main characters in the video. The girls drug a rich guy, rob him, but in the end Christina gets caught, while Paris walks away with the stolen goods. Kimora Lee also makes an appearance in the video, but has no role in it. I am not sure how I feel about the song, but the video is kinda fun.

Emeli Sande's cover of Crazy In Love is crazy cool

So the latest song from The Great Gatsby OST that hit the web is Emeli Sande's cover of Beyonce's iconic song Crazy In Love. At first I was sceptical when I heard which song Emeli would cover. She has a great voice and cool songs, but c'mon, covering an RnB gem like Crazy In Love? I wasn't sure she could pull it off. And she proved me wrong. The cover is surprisingly cool and unexpectedly good. At least from my point of view. Emeli made a swing cover of the song, and trumpets can be heard throughout the entire song. It's the type of song you would here a couple of decades ago in those big American salons. It really pulls you back in time. I am still shocked at how Emeli pulled this one off. She really proved herself in my eyes.

Queen Eve is back on the throne

Well, she is back on the throne according to her latest song. Eve has released her second single from the upcoming album Lip Lock. The self-titled single features a reggae artist Miss Kitty. And can I say I am absolutely in love with Kitty's accent! It is amazing and somehow goes perfectly with Eve's song and her voice. The song has some eastern influence when it comes to the beat, and the lyrics are there to show everyone Eve is back and she is not kidding around. I fell in love with the song on the first listen, so I hope it will succeed on the charts. As far as the video goes, it's pretty simple, Eve is walking down the streets of London and being street sexy. A song like this needs nothing more.

Dido's latest single is the best she released in a while

After bashing Dido in my last post about her, I am ready to give her a second chance after hearing her new single. End Of Night is the second single from Dido's album Girl Who Got Away and I can honestly say it's the first Dido single I have really liked since Sand In My Shoes. Yes, it took Dido that long to get back on my playlist. All of the singles she released until now were dull (with the exception of Everything To Lose which was sort of good). The video for this brilliant pop gem was released a couple of days ago. Dido looks gorgeous in the video while walking through a haunted house filled with dancers. The concept is simple but beautiful. Just like the song. This actually made me want to listen to her new album and search for songs like this.
